Dan Cogan-Drew is Co-Founder and Chief Academic Officer at Newsela where he leads the delivery of learning insights that power improvements in student outcomes by Newsela's products and services. He began his education career in Teach for America and went on to teach in public and private schools, as well as in the US Navy. He holds degrees from Wesleyan University, Brown University, and Tufts University.

Courtney’s background combines deep knowledge and skills in data science and analytics with a passion for improving educational outcomes and opportunities for students. She is a co-founder of Schoolytics, a data platform for schools that was acquired by Newsela, where she continues to lead Schoolytics within Newsela. Prior to founding Schoolytics, Courtney worked at Chegg for five years leading data science and analytics teams. Before joining Chegg, she spent nearly six years working on data and research initiatives at Teach For America (TFA). Courtney holds a PhD and MPhil in economics from the University of Oxford, a master’s in economics from the University of Paris–La Sorbonne, and a bachelor’s in economics from Princeton University. She currently serves as the President of the Los Gatos Union School District Board of Trustees.
